Picturesque ratings scenario?
CHECK IT OUTWITH rivals ABS-CBN and GMA networks both claiming ratings leadership, viewers are seemingly being left in the dark as to what the real ratings scenario is.But apparently, based on the official AGB Nielsen ratings data for Mega Manila for the fourth quarter of 2006, GMA Network continues to dominate the numbers game with a 16.7% total day ratings average compared to ABS-CBN’s 14.3%.It is also important to note that the top 4 slots of the overall top 5 programs for the same period are all GMA primetime programs " Captain Barbell, Bakekang, Atlantika and 24 Oras. Fifth-ranked ABS-CBN’s Kapamilya Deal or No Deal is the only non-GMA show in the Top 5.In the fourth quarter of 2006 alone, GMA got a 19.5% total day ratings average among non-cable homes and only 9.5% among cable households, thus resulting in a highly questionable 10% difference. In contrast, ABS-CBN registered 13.7% among non-cable households and a significantly higher 15.9% among cable subscribers. And given that both Sky and Home Cable are also owned by the Lopezes, are viewers being subjected to a picturesque ratings scenario? Just asking!
